North East chefs from Ophelia and Restaurant Pine team up for a Bank Holiday BBQ extravaganza

Nick Grieves and Ian Waller are teaming up to create a memorable event for foodies in the North East.

A Gosforth restaurant is set to create ‘a feast for the senses’ this upcoming Bank Holiday, as two chefs team up to deliver a BBQ extravaganza. 

Nick Grieves, who is the chef-owner of Ophelia is set to team up with the head chef of Michelin starred Restaurant Pine, Ian Waller.

Together the talented pair will be serving up delicious dishes at Ophelia in celebration of the Bank Holiday, held on Sunday, May 26 from 2pm to 9pm.

The chefs will be working as a duo for the event, serving up specialty dishes to foodies in the North East. 

Waller is set to serve his take on a classic kebab, which features braised lamb neck (or mushroom as a vegetarian option), caramelised tomato with koji and pumpkin seed, juniper yoghurt, jalapeno and rose hot sauce finished with fermented garlic honey and served with a fennel, pickled onion and caper salad. 

Grieves will be serving up mouth-watering snacks, which includes; oysters and fermented red pepper juice, squid with cucumber nam jim and raspberries, as well as tomato and melon in dashi.

To complement the food courtesy of Waller and Grieves, Fond Wine will be on board to pour delicious wines, while Ophelia’s bar will be serving up classic cocktails such as Negroni’s, Margaritas and Aperol Spritz.

To make the Bank Holiday celebration even more exciting Ophelia will host a guest DJ, who will be bringing tropical beats to the restaurant.

Grieves said: ‘’Ian and I have been mates for a long time and thought we’d have a bit of fun this coming bank holiday. We wanted to do something a bit different, and we decided the best way to do it would be to get together at Ophelia and cook.

“We thought what could be better than serving up some delicious food with really interesting flavours and inviting people along to come and join us so they could tuck in, soak up the chilled atmosphere and enjoy a drink or two in the sun (fingers crossed) and get tighter with their friends and have a great time.’’
