North East shopping centre lines up family-friendly fun this February half-term

There is plenty happening at the Metrocentre this half-term.

The Metrocentre has revealed that it has lined up a free family-friendly action packed February half-term to help keep youngsters occupied over the school holidays.

The Gateshead shopping centre has revealed that the Metrognomes Herbert, Sherbert, Maggot and Rusty are set to celebrate the 40 years since the Metrocentre opened in 1986.

To celebrate, they were planning a ‘Very Mad Birthday Party’, with the four gnomes are planning the most famous party of them all - the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

The shows will take place in the shopping centre’s Exhibition Square where audiences can watch the colourful chaos unravel and even get a glimpse of Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter themselves.

The shows will run from Thursday, February 19, until Tuesday, February 24, at the following times:

  • Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday: 12pm, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm.
  • Saturday: 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm.
  • Sunday: 12pm, 2pm and 4pm.

Organisers have confirmed that there is no need for tickets, with audiences asked to turn up and grab a seat.

The shows will last around 30 minutes and will be followed by a ‘meet and greet’ at the front of the stage, along with the opportunity to grab a photo with the Metrognomes.

For older children and teenagers, the Metrocentre has plenty for them to get involved in with everything from Clip n’ Climb to Treetop Golf.
