North East theatre company searching for local performers for Annie The Musical

A North East theatre company is on the search for aspiring actors to audition for their upcoming production of Annie The Musical. 

Astravaganza Entertainment is a local theatre company that was founded in 2012 by Liam Glendinning. The company is known for their productions of well-loved theatre shows, including Shrek The Musical and Oliver.

Known as one of the leading theatre companies in the North East, Astravaganza Entertainment gives local talented individuals the opportunity to showcase their performance skills as part of their exciting productions. 

They are currently looking to cast performers for their newest production, Annie The Musical, which will be performing on stage in August of this year.

Those who have a passion for performing arts, musical theatre, drama, singing and dance are encouraged to apply for a role in the production, as they will gain valuable experience and skills under the guidance of industry professionals over a two-week period. 

Prices for the summer school are £95 per week for a junior child and £70 per week for a senior child. Adults will pay a one-off payment of £50 for costume hire.

Seasoned experts on hand to deliver coaching as part of rehearsals for Annie The Musical include producer Liam Glendinning, director David Ducasse (of Eurovision fame), choreographer and children’s director Benjamin Munday who has starred in the West End production of Annie, associate choreographer Alexandra Waite-Roberts, musical director John Hudson and dance caption Bekka Whaley.

Astravaganza Entertainment are casting for various roles including for junior children aged 7 to 13, senior children aged 15 to 18 and adult performers to play principal roles such as Oliver Warbucks, Miss Hannigan, Lily St. Regis and Rooster Hannigan.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, May 25 at Whitley Bay’s Playhouse. Successful auditionees will be automatically enrolled into a summer school lasting two weeks, with a third week held for performances of the production.

Auditions will require candidates to prepare specific songs, including ‘It’s A Hard Knock Life’ and ‘Tomorrow’. 

The role of Sandy will be played by a real dog, so candidates must not be allergic or fearful of dogs. 

Applications to star in Astravaganza Entertainment’s Annie The Musical will close at 8pm on Wednesday, May 22.
