Northumberland robbery sees thief assault two female staff before making off with loot

The robber assaulted two members of staff and made off with nearly £1,000 from the till.

A robber assaulted two female members of staff before making off with nearly £1,000 from a Northumberland shop.

Northumbria Police are appealing for information on the incident, which happened shortly before 9pm on Friday February 11 at the Spar store in Dudley, Northumberland.

It was reported that a male offender entered the store and threatened then assaulted two female members of staff. He went on to steal approximately £920 in cash from the till.

A police statement confirms that neither member of staff or any member of public was injured during the crime, however “staff present were left shaken by the incident”.

The statement continued: “An investigation has been launched into the robbery and police are carrying out a range of enquiries in a bid to trace the person responsible.”

It was reported the offender was around 6’4, of slim build wearing all black clothes. He was also said to be carrying a black backpack.
