Northumbria Police appeal to public to find male in connection with city centre assault

Northumbria Police have launched an appeal to the public to help track down a man in connection with an investigation.

It was reported that around 11 pm on December 18, a man was walking down Collingwood Street and stopped to help break up a fight.

Another man believed to be involved then proceeded to punch the victim leaving him with serious injuries to his face that required stitches.

A number of enquiries have been carried out and police are now appealing for any witnesses who are yet to come forward.

Police are keen to identify a man who was in the area at the time of the incident and may be able to assist officers with their investigation.
