2023 seems to be the year to take a step back in time and fulfil your nostalgia for past times. Well, that’s certainly the case for the North East, as many different ‘throwback’ events will arrive in venues across the region this year.
Here are the best events coming to the North East. From a 90s pop icon drag event to an emo band tribute night, there is something for everyone on the list!
Back To The 80s

Hide AdThis event, held at the Salt Market at North Shields’ Fish Quay will be a party dedicated to the 1980s. There will be music, food and prizes for the best dressed guest. Back To The 80s will take place on Saturday February 11 from 6pm until 11pm. Tickets start from £6 and can be purchased here.
Emo Tribute Night
If you ever had an ‘emo phase’ in the 00s, then this is the event for you. With tribute acts to the biggest emo bands such as My Chemical Romance (The Black Charade), Fall Out Boy (Fell Out Boy) and Green Day (Dookie Green Day). The event will take place at Newcastle’s Riverside on Saturday March 18. Tickets are priced at £16.50 and can be purchased here.
Noughty 90s Festival
The festival celebrating the biggest artists from the 90s will return to Newcastle’s Leazes Park this August. Noughty 90s Festival will have different stages for performers as well as a funfair, bars, arcades, food vendors, a roller disco and more! The line up for Newcastle is yet to be revealed. The event will be held on August 26 and 27. Tickets can be purchased here.


Pop Icons Drag Bottomless Brunch
The Brunch Club, who are known for their unique bottomless brunch experiences have announced their newest event, Pop Icons Drag. Drag performers will pay tribute to the biggest pop icons across a variety of eras, while guests enjoy a bottomless brunch. The event will be held on Saturday March 11. Tickets are priced at £39.99 per person and can be purchased here.
