Osters launch brand-new Sunday lunch menu to suit all tastes

A Newcastle restaurant known for their mouth-watering fish dishes are now introducing traditional roasts to their menu.

Osters, which is located on Gosforth’s high street, was recently opened by the owners of Lovage in Jesmond, as a sister venue.

They have launched a brand-new Sunday lunch menu, with traditional roasts included to cater to meat-eaters, while staying true to its origins with a wide variety of fish dishes. 

Staying in line with its values to source local ingredients, brand-new dishes on the menu include Black Angus striploin of beef, Yorkshire leg of lamb with mint gravy, chicken breast with stuffing, Wilde Farm belly pork with sage gravy and apple sauce and red wine-braised feather blade of beef.

Osters have also ensured that they are catering to vegetarians, with Sunday lunch options including; nut roast with thyme jus, pumpkin ravioli with caramelised walnut, romesco and harissa and cauliflower steak with red lentil, cavolo nero and toasted almonds.

Snacks and starters at the high-quality restaurant have remained dedicated to fish, including oysters with blood orange and champagne, lobster ravioli with fish cream and bottarga and Tempura cod cheeks, aioli and fennel pollen. 

Fish-lovers who fancy a Sunday lunch also have the option to enjoy Portugese octopus, prawn and squid cassoulet, halibut and stone bass pie and steamed cod with samphire white wine chowder and enuga caviar.

Side dishes available include; parmesan and truffle skinny fries, mixed seasonal greens and beetroot with sumac yogurt, roasted hispi with harissa and cauliflower cheese and truffle. 

To finish off with something sweet, Osters are offering dark chocolate tart with pistachio brittle, vanilla ice cream and morello cherries, spiced orange cake with caramel ice cream, plum and star anise compote, crema Catalana with pink peppercorn shortbread and a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. 

Lastly, Osters have a cheese board consisting of Oxford Isis, Lincolnshire Poacher, Baron Bigot, Ragstone and Hebridian Blue.
