I’m A celebrity...South Africa: Ant and Dec spark outrage over comment about Janice Dickinson’s appearance

Ant and Dec have faced backlash for comments about Janice Dickinson’s appearance on the new I’m A Celebrity: All Stars series.

The TV hosts, from Newcastle upon Tyne, returned to screens on Monday night to host the new ITV spin-off series in South Africa.

The episode saw Janice Dickinson, 68, take on the first bushtucker trial with Paul Burrell and Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder.

As the pair were recording a link to the next segment of the show, they made a joke about the model’s new appearance.

They pointed out that the model had recently had facial enhancements, saying: "some of her face is familiar".

Fans of the show immediately took to social media to hit out at the show’s hosts for their comments.

One said: "Bit disappointed in @antanddec last night, making a playful joke about Janice’s plastic surgery. I get it is done in jest, but it’s essentially saying, ‘It’s ok to mock the way people look’, and we have enough of that with the press and social media. We don’t need it from them too."

Another said: "Not @antanddec roasting Janice Dickinson’s plastic surgery."

A third commented: “Ant and Dec COMING for Janice …"

The former supermodel has returned to take on the critters after previously appearing in the Australian jungle in 2007, finishing as a runner-up.

As she arrived on the show, the 68-year-old mocked Ant and Dec over their ‘prison’ style outfits.

Janice joked: "My boyfriends. I missed you so much. You look younger."

Dec replied: "So do you! You have got no idea how excited we are to see you all again."

Janice then looked them up and down and quipped: "That’s what you wear?”

"You look like you are in prison!"

Ant replied: "Thanks, Janice. We are in South Africa. This is like safari wear."

The duo have hosted the show since it launched in 2002, with Dec appearing in all 23 series - while Ant was replaced by Holly Willoughby in 2018 due to him taking time away from TV work.
