There certainly aren’t any prizes for guessing who is under NewcastleWorld’s 12 Days of Christmas today.

It is, of course, the iconic Geordie duo of Ant & Dec.

The TV presenters have had a busy year in 2021 as the faces of hit ITV shows Saturday Night Takeaway and I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! once again.

The duo are Tyneside legends having first met on the set of Byker Grove in 1989.

You wouldn’t believe it now, but the two actually didn’t see eye-to-eye at first.

Speaking on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross in 2006, Dec said: “We didn’t particularly like each other at first, I thought he was miserable.”

Ant added: “We’ve rowed a few times - we’re quite competitive.”

Clearly, that’s long gone now with the dynamic duo thick as thieves.

Ant & Dec’s 2021 climaxed with the return of I’m a Celebrity in November.

The series was once again filmed in Gwrych Castle in Wales due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and wasn’t without controversy along the way.

Storm Arwen wreaked havoc on the camp during filming and caused celebrities to be whisked away and put up in hotels for protection.

However, it didn’t knock the NTA Award winner off their stride.

As well as establishing a giddy schoolboy relationship with Newcastle United legend David Ginola, the pair were on form with their trademark satirical links.

The infamous ‘good evening Prime Minister’ quips were coupled up with jokes about a 10 Downing Street Christmas party as headlines hit the news.

Ant & Dec had viewers at home in stitches during their short segments, showing they are still the best in the business even after all these years.
