Vicky Pattison has vented about the sexism many women experience after reading a magazine article about Hilary Swank. The Hollywood star  announced that she gave birth to twins at the age of 48 in April.

Former Geordie Shore star, Vicky, 35, from Newcastle, took to Instagram Stories to post a snap of Hilary looking stunning in a Glamour article which was entitled: “Hilary Swank was called ‘irresponsible’ for becoming a mum at 48. Why do we not have the same energy for older dads like 83-year-old Al Pacino?” Vicky captioned her post: “Sexism has entered the chat”.

Journalist Laura Hampson, who penned the Glamour article said Hilary Swank was the “first person” she thought of when it was revealed that Al Pacino is set to become a father again at 83.

Immediately after the ‘The Boys Don’t Cry’ actress announced that she was giving birth to twins on her social media platforms, she was criticised for starting a family at such a late age. One follower wrote: “How deeply irresponsible to bring kids into the world at such an old age, just to fulfil some inner selfish desire for children,” Another added: “By the time your kids are in their 20s, both their parents will be in a nursing home or dead.”

Vicky, who has been sharing her egg-freezing fertility process with her followers,  pointed out that attitudes differ when discussing the age of men and women who are about to become new parents.  Both Al Pacino and Robert De Niro have recently become fathers despite being in their 70’s. Vicky questioned why both of these men, who are three decades older than Hilary Swank, have been praised while Hilary is getting penalised. Vicky has been very vocal about her own fertility issues on her Instagram saying: “I’m so grateful that I have had my family and lovely friends around me though otherwise I would have just been a mess.”
