A trip to The Hoppings in Newcastle is a rite of passage for many Geordie children.
The annual fairground has been coming to Tyneside for decades and this year celebrates its 140th anniversary.
It’s a particularly poignant year for the event after two years away due to Covid-19.
The Hoppings welcomed its first visitors of 2022 on Friday, June 17 as the Lord Mayor declared the event oficially open.
