Police hunt for ‘perfume theft’ man after Gateshead pharmacy incident

The Gateshead ‘perfume theft’ happened in August and the police need help with the investigation.

Officers are appealing to the public for help in the search for a person connected to a Gateshead theft.

The incident originally took place on Tuesday, August 3 and now Northumbria Police are asking for any information that may lead them to the culprit.

At the time police received a report that a man had entered Well Pharmacy on Beaconsfield Road, Gateshead, at around 3:30 pm on August 3, 2021.

He then helped himself to several bottles of perfume from behind the counter, believed to be worth around £100.

The man then left the store without paying.

The incident was reported to the police and enquiries to trace the offender have been ongoing ever since.

Detectives have now released the image of a male they would like to trace in connection with the incident.

Northumbria Police said: "He was in the store at the time and we believe he might have information which can assist the enquiry.

"The man, or anyone who knows him, or who thinks they can assist is asked to contact police using the Tell us Something page on our website using log 086713B/21."
