Images released as police hunt for two males in connection with Wallsend pub assault

Northumbria Police have released two images of males they are looking to speak to regarding an assault in a Wallsend pub last year.

The incident took place on October 17, 2021 but police were only notified of what happened on October 19.

They were told a man had been assaulted inside the Duke of York public house in the early hours of the morning.

The 34-year-old victim had been approached by two males who punched him in the head and they struck him with a bottle as he lay on the floor.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head, eye and ankle.

An investigation was immediately launched and officers have already reviewed CCTV and spoken with a number of witnesses.

Now, police have issued photographs of two males who were in the area at the time of the incident and may have information that can assist with the case.
