Massive new Newcastle neighbourhood to include multi-storey car park and 100s of apartments
Plans for a major new neighbourhood in Newcastle, including a huge multi-storey car park and hundreds of apartments, have been unveiled.
A planning application has been submitted by blocwork and government planning firm Platform4 for Forth Goods Yard, which forms part of the wider Forth Yards development. The scheme relates to land Newcastle's Redheugh and King Edward VII bridges and includes three buildings.
The first will provide 162 new homes as well as a landscaped courtyard for use by residents and visitors. Building two will include 352 homes and an additional courtyard. Together they will provide more than 500 properties which are a mix of one, two and three bedroom.
Building three is planned to be a multi-storey car park, providing 649 spaces for long stay. A new public realm route is also proposed to open up the Goods Yard to the wider area.
