Premium bond winners: January 2023 NS&I premium bond winners in Newcastle and how to enter for next month

The first premium bond winners in 2023 have been announced with thousands around the UK having the ultimate start to the year with a bit of extra cash in their wallets. Many of the winners in the NS&I premium bond January draw come from Newcastle.

In January, one person took home £50,000 in Newcastle with three winning £25,000 and a further seven getting £10,000. Through the Premium Bond scheme, you are entered into a monthly prize draw where you can win between £25 and £1 million tax free.

When your bond is all set up, you receive a bond number for every £1 invested. This means that for example, if you invest £20, you will receive 20 bond numbers. So, the more you invest, the better chance you have of winning.

This month, over £299 million has been handed out in prize money with almost five million winners.

The two big winners of the month are unfortunately not from the area. The biggest winners in January hail from Wiltshire and South Yorkshire, with both winning over £1 million with a respective investment of £50,000 and £4,625 invested.

How to enter the Premium Bond draw

To be entered into the draw, you purchase a Premium Bond. These can be bought by registering an account on the NS&I website and filling out an online form or by calling 08085 007 007 to request a form which can then be filled out and sent back to NS&I.

To begin, you will need to put down a minimum of £25 and there’s no limit as to how many premium bonds you can purchase, as long as you do not exceed the £50,000 limit. For the minimum price of £25, you will get 25 separate bond numbers.
