'Quayside, shopping and Newcastle United' - People reveal their favourite things about Newcastle

We might be bias but we believe that Newcastle is one of, if not the greatest, city in the world.
There is plenty that the place has to offer, including a Premier League football team that is very much on the up, great bars and restaurants, an impressive variety of shops, along with architecture and monuments that are steeped in history.

Hide AdHowever, we wanted to know what you think so we took to the streets of Newcastle city centre on Wednesday, February 8, to ask members of the public what their favourite thing about the city is.
Kevin and Linda Freeman were up from Doncaster visiting Newcastle, with Kevin originally being from the North East of England.
Speaking about his homeland, Kevin said: "The people and the city, the culture, it's very friendly - and the football team."
Linda added: "I've come here really to find out where my husband used to live but I think it is quite a nice city, I find it very nice."

Hide AdRay and Pat Bowman praised the city's "lovely" people and the shopping facilities that it has on offer.
Ray commented: "The city centre shopping, Northumberland Street, and of course the people are lovely people, which always helps so that's why I like Newcastle."
Pat said: "Well it's a party city and there are thousands of young people coming to the town.
"We've also got a good shopping centre and it is easy to get to."

Julie and Alan Bell were in Newcastle city centre to meet up with friends, with Julie revealing that the city's iconic Quayside was her favourite thing.
She said: "The Quayside, I love the market on a Sunday and the regeneration down there is lovely, it's nice to walk along."
However, for Alan who is from Newcastle, he expressed his love for Newcastle United as being his favourite thing about Newcastle.
He added: "I'm Newcastle born and bred, so its got to be the Toon."
