

Newcastle and surrounding areas will honour those lost in conflict on Remembrance Sunday this weekend.
Armistice Day happens before that, on Thursday, 11 and events across the region will start then.

Newcastle City Centre
Newcastle's commemoration events will take place on Remembrance Sunday, this November 14.

It will begin with the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Councillor Habib Rahman, laying wreaths at the War Memorials close to the Civic Centre.
The parade will set off from the Civic Centre at 10:15 am and march through the city, eventually arriving at the War Memorial at Old Eldon Square.
A two-minute silence will then take place as customary at 11 am, the start and finish marked by gunfire.

The event will also include readings and a live rendition of the national anthem.
Gateshead
Events in Gateshead are spread across the weekend, from Thursday until Sunday.

Thursday, November 11:
Saltwell Park - A service will take place at the DLI Memorial at 10:45 am.
Crookhill/Stargate - Assembly will take place at Crookhill School at 10:30 am to walk to the War Memorial ceremony for a service.
Greenside - There will be a short service at the War Memorial at 11 am. A full service will be saved for Saturday, November 14.

Friday, November 12:
Birtley - Short wreath-laying ceremony taking place at Birtley Cenotaph at 6:45 am.
Sunday, November 14:
Gateshead - The main Gateshead service will start at 10:45 am, with attendees asked to assemble at the Cenotaph for 10:40 am.

Birtley - Parade to leave Birtley Community Centre at 10:30 am and arrive for a 10:45 am service at Birtley Cenotaph. There will be a two-minute silence followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.
Blaydon - 10:15 am service at St Cuthbert's Church and then another service at the War Memorial at midday.
Clara Vale - Wreath-laying service to take place at 11 am at the War Memorial.
Chopwell - A Remembrance Service and wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Cenotaph at midday.

Dunston - Service at St Nicholas Church at 10 am, followed by another service at the War Memorial at 11 am. Refreshments at the City Hall will follow.
Felling - A short service and wreath-laying ceremony will take place at Felling's Garden of Remembrance at 11 am. Attendees should watch the weather forecast as wet weather will lead to a change in location.
Greenside - Service at 10:45 am at the War Memorial, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.
High Spen - Communion Service at St Patrick's Church at 9 am, followed by an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 10 am.

Kibblesworth - Wreath-laying ceremony will take place at 10:45 am at the War Memorial. Refreshments will follow at the Millenium Centre.
Marley Hill - Remembrance Service at St Cuthbert's Church at 10:15 am.
Rowlands Gill - Service will take place at St Barnabas at 10:35 am, at Strathmore Road Methodist Church at 11:45 am and then a Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial at midday.
Ryton - Parish Communion will be held at the Holy Cross at 10 am, followed by an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 11 am.

Swalwell - Service at the Holy Trinity Church at 9 am and then a wreath-laying ceremony at 10 am.
Winlaton - A service will take place at St Paul's Church at 9:30 am and then a Remembrance Service at the War Memorial from 10:45 am.
North Tyneside
North Tyneside's Remembrance Day events will start from Thursday, November 11 with the Jigsaw Memorial at Killingworth White Swan Centre.

There will be a short service and two minutes of silence.
The rest of the events will then take place on Sunday, November 14 with a number of parades planned.
They are as follows:
Longbenton - The Longbenton parade will begin at 10:15 am at the Ex-Servicemen’s Institute and march to the Cenotaph within the grounds of St Bartholomew’s Church, where wreaths will be laid before a service.

North Shields - The North Shields parade will leave Tyne Met College at 10:30 am and arrive at the War Memorial at 10:50 am, where there will be a service.
Wallsend - Organisations will meet at 10:30 am in Richardson Street and arrive at the War Memorial at 10:55 am for a service.
Whitley Bay - The Whitley Bay parade will meet at 2:30 pm in Victoria Terrace before it marches to the Cenotaph for a 3 pm service.
South Tyneside

Remembrance Day events in South Tyneside will take place in two parts, with some on Thursday's Armistice Day and the rest on Remembrance Sunday.
Thursday, November 11:
South Shields - Assembly at the Mission to Seafarers for 10:30 am before a walk to the Merchant Navy Memorial for a service. There will also be a service at St Stephen's Church at 10:30 am and at the War Memorial in West Park for 10:50 am.
Monkton Village - Assembly at the Lord Nelson pub for 10:40 am before a march to the Monkton Village War Memorial for a service at 10:55 am.

Sunday, November 14:
South Shields - A parade will assemble at South Shields Town Hall at 10:15 am and march to Westoe Cenotaph for a 10:55 am service.
Jarrow - A parade will assemble at Jarrow Town Hall for 10:30 am before marching to the Station Street War Memorial for a service at 10:55 am.
Hebburn - A parade will assemble at 9:45 am at Hebburn Central and then march to St John's Church for a service at 10:15 am. The parade will then reform at 10:40 am and march to Carr Ellison Park for a service at the War Memorial at 10:55 am.

Whitburn - A parade will assemble at Whitburn Parish Church at 10:40 am and move to the Whitburn War Memorial for 10:55 am.
Cleadon - A service will take place at Cleadon Village War Memorial at 10:50 am.
