Sam Fender fans were taken by surprise at the weekend when his long-running band mates returned to the Low Lights Tavern in North Shields.

28-year-old Fender who grew up in North Shields, was known to frequent the Low Lights Tavern in his hometown, and performed there before and after his big break in the music industry.

In 2019, Fender won the Critics Choice Award from the BRITS and donated his award to the pub which is located in Brewhouse Bank, which they turned into a beer pump.

North Shields fans of the singer hope to bump into the star at the pub, and although on this occasion Fender himself wasn’t there - fans were over the moon to find his band mates in the venue.

On Easter Sunday, a fan posted to the Sam Fender Appreciation group on Facebook of herself with three of the band members, Dean Thompson who plays guitar and provides backing vocals, Johnny “Blue Hat” Davis who plays the saxophone Joe Atkinson who plays keyboard, synthesisers, and guitar as well as providing backing vocals.

The fan posted the trio of images with each band member, captioning the post: “So there were a few familiar faces in the Low Lights tonight” alongside the rock on hand emoji and green heart emoji.
