Screen on the Green returns to Newcastle city centre for summer 2025 - this is what to expect
NE1 has confirmed that the Screen on the Green is returning to Newcastle city centre on June 30 and will be in place for the summer of 2025.
This year, the open air cinema is teaming up with North East brand, Fentimans, which is marking its 120th anniversary.

Hide AdFor 2025, the Screen on the Green starts with live sporting action from Wimbledon, followed by the Tour de France, before handing over to the main event - more than 100 free movies during the six weeks summer holidays.
Free open-air moves will be screened each day at 12pm and 3pm, making it perfect for children, families and cinema lovers of all ages.

Among the must-see films are three of this year’s record-breaking box office hits, such as Paddington in Peru, Moana 2 and Minecraft: The Movie.
Organisers have revealed that Tuesday mornings will be reserved for Toddler Takeovers featuring one of Julia Donaldson’s beloved stories each week.

Hide AdTyneside Cinema will be taking the reins on Wednesday evenings with some of their signature choices, which include Barbie, Princess Bride, and the Italian classic, Cinema Paradiso.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Fall Guy, and Twisters are among the line up for Blockbuster Thursdays at 6pm for the post-work crowd.
NE1 has even lined up a sing-along version of Wicked, which audiences are invited to get involved in.
To coincide with Newcastle’s Mela in the City celebrations on August 23, the Screen on the Green will be showing a selection of vibrant Bollywood films.

Hide AdThis will then be followed on August 25 by a Shrek Marathon - with all four films in the Shrek franchise screened back-to-back from 10am until 5.30pm.

To wrap up the 2025 season, the Screen on the Green will be in full party mode for the closing weekend on August 30 and 31.
Crafts, character costumes appearances and face painting will all be on hand to mark the end of another summer in Newcastle city centre.
The final films of 2025, which have been chosen by competition winners, will be Ratatouille, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Tangled and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
