SIX Rooftop celebrates after being awarded two AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence

A newly refurbished restaurant on the Quayside has been awarded two AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence.

SIX Rooftop, which reopened to the public in February, following an extensive renovation to their restaurant ahead of their 15th anniversary, are now celebrating after the quality of their food has been recognised by AA.

Owned by Pneuma Hospitality Group, SIX Rooftop are now worthy recipients of two AA Red Rosette awards which are presented to restaurants that are achieving standards that stand out in their local area. 

SIX Rooftop are now among the Newcastle and Gateshead restaurants to receive this award, for their determination and dedication to delivering high quality food, using quality ingredients and preparing with care, understanding and skill. 

Head chef at SIX Rooftop, Alex Walker and Pneuma’s Food Director Greg Lamber have worked together to deliver “accessible fine dining”, while using fresh local produce to deliver innovative and exciting dishes.

They said:  ”We’re both hugely delighted for the whole team at Six Rooftop. This is a very proud moment for us all and what is the start of a long and rewarding journey for the whole team. We know that we need to continue to push to progress to where we want to be in the future. Each and every member of the team is determined to deliver excellent quality seasonal dishes for our diners, backed up by diligent and attentive service provided by our dedicated team.”

AA Area Manager & Senior Inspector, Euan Davidson remarked:  “We found assured cooking from Alex Walker in the recently refurbished space at the top of the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts, which now has a long tradition in the local area. A particular highlight was the delightfully fresh Portland white crab meat and turnip sitting on a robust set shellfish custard.’’
