South Shields’ Joe McElderry, 31, found fame in 2009 after winning the sixth series of X Factor after being mentored by fellow geordie star, Cheryl.

Since then, Joe has continued to perform, going on to land the leading role as Joseph in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat back in 2015.

Joe also made his debut performance in Newcastle Theatre Royal’s Christmas pantomime last year, and will revive his role as The Fairy Godfather this Christmas.

Joe’s latest role involves him transforming into the 80s pop sensation, George Michael, for a tribute tour named Freedom: The Music of George Michael.

Joe has cited the late George Michael (who sadly passed away on Christmas Day 2016) as a huge inspiration to him.

George Michael and his music is also incredibly special to Joe, as he performed with the singer back in 2009 while he was still a contestant on the X Factor. The pair performed a duet to George Michael’s song with Elton John, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me
