NewcastleWorld readers have been sharing their snow day photos on social media.

Friday, December 1, has kicked off the Christmas period in style as the North East woke up to scenes that wouldn't be out of place in a Charles Dickens novel.

Whilst snow does cause problems on the roads and brings with it a drop in temperatures, it cannot be denied that it adds an extra magical feeling to the festive period.
