A pub in Tynemouth has reached out to the public, offering their venue as a warm space.

A famous pub in Tynemouth, Turks Head has invited the public to visit their pub in order to stay warm, with no obligation to purchase any drinks or food.

The pub, located on Tynemouth’s Front Street, posted to Twitter explaining that they are happy for the public to sit in their pub rather than in the cold due to the extreme weather conditions.

In the post, they explained that they have fires, books, games, magazines and a television - so that those sheltering from the cold can feel comfortable and at home, while keeping warm.

The incredibly kind gesture from the pub also extended for those waiting for the bus, as Turks Head said on the post: “Consider us a gigantic well tiled bus stop.”

The full tweet, which was posted at 7am this morning, read: “It is FREEZING today. If you’re cold, come in to the Turks. You don’t need to buy something to come into a pub. The fires are on, we’ve got books, games, magazines, telly and WiFi. Even if you’re just waiting for the 306, consider us a gigantic well tiled bus stop.”

The post now has 156 retweets, and 813 likes, which is continuously growing as people discover and share the generous and heart-warming decision by Turks Head.
