The Newcastle Food Festival announces line-up of exciting live music as it makes its debut

The festival will showcase over 100 food traders, while providing attendees with entertainment such as live cooking, music, comedy and more.

The highly-anticipated Newcastle Food Festival will be making its debut in Exhibition Park this May, and has revealed an exciting line-up of music performances for the event. 

The Newcastle Food Festival will begin on Saturday, May 4 and will run until Sunday, May 6, bringing an immersive experience of food, drinks and music to residents in the North East.

The event, which is set to be held for the first time at Exhibition Park, which is located near Newcastle’s Town Moor, will showcase over 100 food traders in their Street Food Arena, chef demonstrations, range of independent bars, as well as a full ale-house in partnership with Tyne Bank Brewery.

Now, the Newcastle Food Festival has announced an incredible line-up of entertainment that attendees will see performing at the event, including three amazing tribute acts.

On the first day of the festival (Saturday, May 4), Queen tribute act We Are Champion will take to the stage, taking the audience on a journey through Queen’s biggest hits including Bohemian Rhapsody and Don’t Stop Me Now. 

Also set to perform on the day is saxophonist Will Forrester, singer Ellie Ferguson, Voice of the Town choir, DNR Music Mayhem who perform acoustic covers of chart-toppers and rock band The Climate Stripes.

The second day of the festival (Sunday, May 5), will see yet another exciting tribute act perform as Laura Olivia performs as global superstar Taylor Swift, who will perform fan favourite tracks including Love Story and Cruel Summer. 

Other performances on the Sunday include; local group Rock Choir, Howlin Mat, Hit The Lights as well as acoustic group Scoble Swan and Friends. 

The final tribute act to perform on the last day of the festival (Monday, May 6), is I Am Meghan, who will pay homage to pop sensation Meghan Trainor, performing tracks such as All About That Bass and Made You Look.

Newcastle-based singer Phil Graham is also set to perform on the day, as well as Gumbox, and the Leeds City Stompers. 

As well as plenty of live music at the event, the Newcastle Food Festival also has more entertainment for attendees to enjoy including the Live Cookery Theatre hosted by Masterchef finalist Anthony O’Shaughnessy, Live Entertainers Stage, and Roaming Comedy stage.

For the little ones, there will be a place for kids activities, as well as a funfair and inflatable land. 

The Newcastle Food Festival is working with Tyneside & Northumberland Mind, and has already raised £100,000 for mental health initiatives in the North East.
