Three arrested after illegal 'rave' takes place at Wet 'n' Wild in North Shields

The North Shields waterpark has been closed for the last five years.

Three people have been arrested after an illegal ‘rave’ took place at Wet ‘n’ Wild.

A video circulated on social media on Wednesday night showed a small group of people dancing and one person playing some decks as police made their way into the empty North Shields waterpark.

Three people- aged 23, 32 and 33 have been arrested.

Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 9pm yesterday [Wednesday], we responded to a report of a disturbance at a disused premises on Rotary Way in North Shields. Officers attended and a small number of people had gathered to listen to music.

"Three men - aged 23, 32, and 33 - were arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance. They remain in police custody at this time."

The waterpark has recently been sold to a North East developer after being closed for five years.
