Newcastle closed roads: Full list of closures this weekend for the Great North 10k
Although the full half marathon Great North Run may still be a few weeks away, another huge event in the North East running calendar is happening this weekend when the Great North 10k takes over the streets of Newcastle’s city centre.
When is the Great North 10k?
The race will be taking place on Sunday, July 6.


What is the route for the Great North 10k?
The route will see runners start on the Great North Road, turning onto the Great North Road and follow the Great North Run route until it reaches the Tyne Bridge.

Hide AdFrom here the route will see runners head along Market Street, Grainger Street, Blackett Street and New Brisge Street in the city centre before heading west along John Dobson Street and out to Northumbria Universityon Sandyford Road before returning to the Central Motorway.
The race will then head down Newgate Street before looping around Newcastle University and back up the Great North Road.
Which roads will be closed this weekend for the Great North 10k?
Newcastle City Council has released the full list of road closures to make way for the runners taking part this weekend.

Hide AdThe first closures will begin from 4am while the key city centre roads will see no access to cars from 8:30am.
