Trick or Treaters in Newcastle will be readying their costumes and carrier bags this weekend as Halloween is upon us. With a number of venues across Newcastle already preparing spooky specials for punters, it looks to be a busy end to October.

But will the weather hold out for prospective door-to-door candy takers this weekend, or even on the big day this Monday? Will those fancy dress outfits require waterproofing or will it be a treat by remaining somewhat mild this weekend?

According to the Met Office, Newcastle will be generally unsettled with further showers at times, and occasionally longer spells of rain. However, there will also be drier, brighter interludes. Rather windy at times, yet remaining very mild.

Thursday will be rather cloudy and breezy, with showery rain moving north, the odd heavy burst mixed in, becoming drier through the afternoon with some brighter interludes developing too. Expect temperatures to reach highs of 15C and fall only slightly to 13C overnight.

Friday will be cloudy changing to heavy showers by late morning with highs of 15C and lows of 13C. Saturday will be cloudy and a little chillier than the day before temperatures reaching a maximum of 13C,  falling to  11C. Sunday will see another overcast start to the day in Newcastle, changing to sunny intervals. A touch warmer by lunchtime with highs of 15C and lows of 11C.

On Halloween itself (Monday), it will be a clear day to start with but with clouds moving in by early evening. Expect highs of 14c and lows of 10c. Parents taking their children trick or treating will also be happy to know that sunset on Monday will take place from 4:32pm, meaning an early start knocking doors on the day.
