‘Ultimate makeover’ - Halloween fun for the whole family returns to The Alnwick Garden

Lilidorei’s ‘Spookydorei’ celebrations have returned to The Alnwick Garden.

Families across the North East will be able to get involved in the spooky season at The Alnwick Garden until November 3 as Lilidorei has been transformed for its annual Halloween event.

The magical village has seen each of its nine clan houses decked with eerie decorations as visitors can expect a number of seasonal celebrations, with riddles, games and scary storytelling taking place each day.

Lilidorei will also play host to ‘Spookydorei Nights’ that will see extra Halloween fun at the iconic venue when the sun goes down.

Catering for children of all ages, the Halloween event has two trails to explore, with spooky and not-so-spooky options available.

Organisers have confirmed that the there will be two sessions each day this year, with the first running from 10am until 4pm (suitable for all ages) and the second being from 5pm until 9pm.

Nathan Bonk, Lilidorei’s head of play, has given visitors an insight into what they can expect from Spookydorei at The Alnwick Garden this year.

He said: “It’s that time of year again! Spookydorei is one of the biggest events in the Lilidorei calendar, with the play village undergoing a magical transformation for Halloween.

“With even more glowing lights, smoke machines and eerie sound effects than last year, each of our clan houses will have the ultimate makeover.

“Our Secret Keepers will also swap their brightly coloured attire for elaborate costumes, with dark motifs and rich textures reflecting the Halloween spirit.

“For children brave enough to wander the village after dark, Spookydorei Nights provides even more fun.

“Running on the 18th and 19th of October, and again from the 25th to the 31st, these spine-tingling evenings are perfect for those looking for a frightful ‘boo’ or two.”

During the October half-term, children visiting Spookydorei are encouraged to dress up and take a photo alongside their favourite clan house.

Those who tag The Alnwick Garden or Lilidorei on social media with #Spookydorei will be in with a chance of winning a free Christmas visit for their family.

Guests to Spookydorei will also be invited to judge the venue’s annual Spooky Scarecrow Contest, where they will vote for the local school they think made the most impressive Halloween creation.
