WATCH: Longbenton Cadet Squadron receive an award from the Queen

Longbenton Cadet Squadron have received an award from the Queen for Voluntary Service

Longbenton Cadet Squadron have received the Queens Award for Voluntary Service - the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK.

The squadron have served the community of Benton and Longbenton since 1956.

Young people attend the cadets twice a week to take part in different activities and courses such as shooting and using the flight simulator.

Each cadet sets their own goals that they want to achieve and have the chance to attain BTEC qualifications that could help them further their education.
