NE1 are calling the 24 doors of Christmas a city centre advent calendar - and like traditional advent calendars a door will be opened each day during December .

The venues have been announced for this year and they include St James’ Park, The Common Room and All Saints Church on Lower Pilgrim Street.

Greys Monument has been added to the event for the first time so the public can climb the monument in the city centre.

People can also be taken on a tour around the historic Morden Tower that used to be a part of the city walls.

NE1 have seen the success of Christmas-themed events in Newcastle after their Santa Trail sold out straight away.

Each building included is rich in Newcastle history that people may not know and tours will give people a chance to learn more about their city’s history.

Tours around the iconic buildings will take place throughout the month and the 24 doors will end on Christmas Eve at Newcastle Cathedral just in time for Christmas to begin.
