It comes after Plan B restrictions were announced to start this week and people have been encouraged to get their booster jab.

Professor Eugene Milne believes there can be effective levels of populations coverage for Covid vaccines without making them a requirement.

Meanwhile, e-scooters are now banned from the Tyne and Wear Metro and the Shields Ferry.

The ban has been introduced following incidents on the London area where e-scooters were catching fire in public transport services.

And finally, bus routes in the North East face being axed as transport bosses try to work with major budget cuts.

Some services running on the morning, evening and weekend could be axed because they are very lightly used services. Proposals will be put out to a public consultation this week.
