The latest Covid data shows that cases have dropped in Newcastle over the last seven days, with a little over 100 cases recorded.

The number of new cases in the past seven days has, however, risen to 956 and the total number of deaths remains low at just four Newcastle residents.

Meanwhile, leaders in Newcastle have slammed the decision to water down the promised rail upgrades in the north.

The government has said they recognise the importance of improving transport links in the north - and they will make it a priority.

But Newcastle City Council leader Nick Forbes said the region has been denied investment it was promised.

And finally, the Search for Santa Trail date has been announced as tickets go live for the event this week.

On December 4 the free festive trail takes participants on an adventure around the city centre, with all roads leading to Father Christmas.
