Get into the festive spirit by visiting the Newcastle Christmas Markets. The 30 wooden chalet market stalls are located around Greys Monument to create a festive winter wonderland.

You can grab a bite to eat, some festive drinks or gifts for your friends and family. Familiar local businesses will be three including Matthews Cheese and Firebrick Brewery who have popular stalls in the Grainger Market. The markets opened at the weekend and are open right until Christmas Eve.

If you want to carry on the festive celebrations Go North East brought back their Santa bus which is great fun for all the family. Santa will be visiting places across the north east to see if you have been naughty or nice.

Santa will ride on the open top Go North East Santa bus from the 15 to the 23 of December and each day will visit a different part of the region. A full list of locations and timetables can be found on the Go North East app where you can also track Santa on his journey.

Now if you aren’t ready to start your Christmas celebrations yet there are other events that might be more up your street.

The Continental Circus Berlin is coming to Newcastle racecourse on the 10th of December. This show was created by the producers of the Moscow State Circus and Circus Extreme.

The circus themed show is fun for all the family and includes circus acts, concert and daredevils on motorbikes in the globe of death. The one hour show takes place beside winter wonderland at Newcastle Racecourse and it is housed in a huge big top.

This next event will be great for all those that want to explore Newcastle City Centre. The great game Newcastle is an interactive outdoor treasure hunt experience.

After starting in Central Station you will be given a treasure map, a compass and clues to find your way to the treasure. This treasure hunt takes you around the city centre to see all of its famous landmarks where you can learn more about the history behind them.

This treasure hunt is running right into the new year so you can enjoy it whenever is convenient for you and your group.
