Newcastle Weather: Tyneside expected to see weekend thunderstorms according to Met Office weather warnings

The latest Met Office weather warning for Newcastle is likely to make Tyneside residents reconsider their weekend plans after it issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms this weekend.

The weather service issued the warning for thunderstorms on Friday morning with the impacted area covering the vast majority of the country.

According to forecasts from the group, the sun we have seen this week will be replaced by clouds over the weekend with thunderstorms potentially impacting Newcastle on Sunday, June 18.

Warnings currently are in place for the full 24 hours across the final day of the week with the Met Office telling impacted areas to expect spray and the potential for sudden flooding which may lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

There is also a small chance homes and businesses could be flooded quickly in some areas while lightning and flooding may also impact public transport.

All of England and Wales is covered by the warning, with the exception of parts of Cumbria with Hexham remaining in the warning zone while Carlisle stays out of the suspected impacted area.
