Snow alert for parts of UK as temperatures in Newcastle look set to plummet by 10°C

As some parts of the United Kingdom prepare for the first snowfall of autumn, Newcastle is bracing itself for a drop in temperature of 10°C.

There have been reports of some light dustings of snow in northern Scotland however this could spread to other parts of the United Kingdom as temperatures drop over the coming days.

It’s unlikely Newcastle will see snowfall in the coming days however the temperature is set to drop significantly.

The feels-like temperature in Newcastle on Thursday afternoon was 15°C, according to Met Office weather experts however this could drop by a full 10°C within the next few days.

This evening and tonight:

Remaining generally overcast with showers continuing this evening, these likely merging into longer spells of rain and becoming heavy at times overnight. Winds easing slightly but remaining breezy. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Friday:

Early rain clearing to give a bright but breezy day. Blustery showers will push in from the west through the day, these perhaps turning heavy in places. Feeling cool. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

An unsettled spell with heavy rain and strong winds likely through Saturday. Turning showery into Sunday and Monday, with strong winds easing into the start of the week.
