What your Tyneside MP has said about Boris Johnson and the No 10 garden party

Local MPs have been reacting to news that the Prime Minister may have attended a garden party during lockdown

Boris Johnson will face Prime Minister's Questions at noon today in what will be his first appearance since details of the May 2020 No 10 garden party emerged.

Mr Johnson has so far declined to say whether he attended the event, his silence drawing widespread criticism, but witnesses have reported that the Prime Minister were both at the event.

On Monday, January 1, ITV published a leaked email from Martin Reynolds, the PM's principal private secretary, inviting staff to "socially distanced drinks in the No 10 garden".

The event took place on 20 May 2020, whilst lockdown restrictions were in place and is the latest in a series of scandals faced by Mr Johnson and his staff.

MPs across Tyne and Wear have taken to social media, and some have spoken in parliament, to criticise the Prime Minister.
