Whitley Bay pub undergoes transformation and a name change as it prepares to open

The Tavern & Galley, formerly known as the Briar Dene, on The Links in Whitley Bay, is preparing to officially open to the public for the first time.

The pub will open its doors today (Wednesday, November 15) at 11.30am as it becomes the latest addition to the North Tyneside seaside town.

A post on the pub's official Facebook page has given visitors an insight into what they can expect from the newly refurbished venue.

The post said: "The Tavern and Galley (formerly Briar Dene) will officially open on Wednesday 15th November at 11:30am.

"You can expect classic lagers, craft beers, real ales, a premium selection of wines and spirits, and delicious locally sourced seasonal food.

"The transformed venue will be the perfect place to socialise over lunch or dinner, relax after work with a pint of your favourite beer, have a fun evening with friends while enjoying a cocktail (or three), or watch all the latest live sports."

Food served at the pub will include burgers, pizza, seafood, steaks along with traditional British pub classics such as a "pie of the day" and sausage and mash.

The new look venue is dog friendly in the bar area, has an outdoor terrace, is child friendly and has the facilities to hold functions.

The Tavern & Galley is open from 11.30am until 11pm Monday to Saturday and from 11.30am until 10.30pm on Sundays.

Food is served from 12pm until 9pm daily, apart from Sundays, which is 12pm until 6pm.
