Will it snow in Newcastle: Weather warnings to impact parts of North East throughout weekend

Initial warnings were in place earlier this week and snow is now working its way across the UK.

Snow is currently covering parts of the UK, causing lovely scenes and travel chaos in equal measure, but the North East has remained relatively unscathed for now.

However, the Met Office has issued weather warnings across the region for the upcoming weekend with parts of Northumberland expected to see the worst of the conditions.

The warning which has been issued to the region runs from midday on Thursday, February 8 until the morning of Friday, February 9 with the impacted area staying away from the east coast and mainly covering inland areas before reaching across to the opposite coast.

This impacted area includes much of Northumberland and County Durham.

The current Met Office forecast for the city is suggesting anything falling from the sky will be more wet than cold, with the weather service predicting a rainy few days ahead.

Overnight rain which starts on Thursday evening will continue into Friday with drizzle finally coming to an end on Saturday morning, leaving a dry weekend with highs of 8°C on Saturday and 7°C on Sunday compared to overnight lows of 3°C.
