Windows damaged and paint thrown as Northumberland Street bank vandalised
Shocking pictures show the front of the bank in Newcastle city centre totally covered in the colourful substance. Its doors have also been smashed.
Frustrated customers had to wait to be let in one by one after the act of vandalism, which is believed to have been caused by protestors.

Hide AdThe bank has previously been targeted by pro-Palestinian activists who have accused Barclays of having "substantial ties" with arms companies supplying weapons used in the Gaza.
A worker at the scene said: "It happened around 5.30am."They sprayed the doors with paint and smashed the glass.
"There's CCTV of them doing it, which head office has.
"It's a form of protest.
"The police are looking into it."
A Barclays customer who was trying to use the bank this morning said: "It's obviously someone who is very angry.
"It's selfish. You have to think about the inconvenience to others.

Hide Ad"I have to come from Blyth to use this bank as I can only access my account from a Barclays machine.
"I had to stand outside for ten minutes before I could use it.
"I'm not happy about what's happening over in Israel but I wouldn't smash up a shop. "You can legally protest outside of the store."

Hide AdA Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 5.30am today (Tuesday), we responded to a report of criminal damage at a premises on Northumberland Street in Newcastle city centre.
"It was reported that two men had thrown paint at the premises and damaged the doors and window with a hammer before fleeing the scene.
"Enquiries remain ongoing.
"Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with Northumbria Police by sending a private message on social media, visiting the live chat on their website or by completing a crime update form, quoting reference: NP-20240924-0105.
"Those who are unable to contact us this way can call 101."
