World Theatre Day 2023 will take place on Monday, March 27 and theatre-lovers across Newcastle will be heading to their local theatres to celebrate the day.

Newcastle Theatre Royal

Newcastle’s biggest theatre, Theatre Royal will be celebrating World Theatre Day 2023 with Titanic: The Musical, which will have its first performance on the day. The musical which focuses on the tragic true story of the sinking of the ship, will remain at Newcastle Theatre Royal until Saturday, April 1.

Tyne Theatre and Opera House

At Tyne Theatre and Opera House located on Westgate Road, they have some amazing shows coming up. For World Theatre Day 2023, there will not be a show performing, but there are some incredible performances throughout the week.

Guaranteed to give the adults a dose of nostalgia, Dick and Dom in da Bungalow Live will be at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House on Wednesday, March 29. On Thursday, March 30 One Night In Dublin will perform which will include performances from Irish tribute band, The Wild Murphys.

Live Theatre

Newcastle’s Live Theatre which is located at Broad Chare, has an upcoming show in a few months which is for sure worth a mention. To Be a Young Man, which has been written by and starring North East singer Nadine Shah.

Northern Stage

Northern Stage, which is located in Newcastle University, will have Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation presenting the world’s largest youth drama festival from World Theatre Day 2023 on Monday, March 27 until Thursday, March 30.

The People’s Theatre

At The People’s Theatre, they will celebrate World Theatre Day 2023 with Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. The show’s first performance will take place on Monday, March 27 and will continue to perform until Saturday, April 1.
