Local TikTok star and resident Tyneside foodie has picked six of the city's must-visit venues for Newcastle Restaurant Week.

Rebecca Baty, perhaps better known as rebbeebee18, has over 58,000 followers on the social media app, where she posts content from around the North East with exciting activities and hidden gems.

Many of the local's most viewed videos are tantalising shots of food and picks of Newcastle restaurants that many may not think to try.

With a record number of businesses in Newcastle slashing prices to offer £10, £15 and £20 menus this Newcastle Restaurant Week, it's the perfect time for Geordies to try something new.

With so many choices, some lo may wonder where to begin. Luckily, we've chatted with the TikTok star who knows the city's foodie scene like no other, to give you a checklist of cheap eats to indulge on.

Khai Khai

"Khai Khai is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in the North East! The restaurant itself is lovely, they have a focus on heritage Indian comfort food which feels really authentic and their Restaurant Week menu includes a gorgeous selection of different flavours."

Hen & Hops

"Hen & Hops is a fun hidden gem on High Bridge. Their mix of American-style fried chicken with a Geordie twist works so well and, as the restaurant is quite small, it has a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere."

Kafeneon

"Kafeneon has been the hot spot for Greek food in Newcastle city centre for years, so if you haven't been before Restaurant Week is a great excuse!

"You'll find some of the most delicious Greek food outside of South Eastern Europe here and the staff are always great."

Zucchini Pasta Bar

"I feel like Zucchini doesn't get the recognition it deserves as an incredible pasta restaurant! They handmake all of their own pasta on site and often change up their menu to introduce new seasonal dishes.

"It's also in really unique location, sitting on the 55 Degrees North roundabout so it's totally different from anywhere else in the North East."

Kaltur

"For gorgeous Spanish tapas Kaltur is a great shout. If you love traditional Spanish favourites like patatas bravas, but also some more experimental options like tempura aubergine with cane syrup, then I'd recommend trying this place out!

Blackfriars

"Blackfriars is my wildcard because I've never been before - which is exactly why I've booked it! I've heard so many people rave about Blackfriars for years so it feels like a crime that I haven't been yet. Their restaurant week menu looks great so I'm really excited to try it, finally!"
