Key Newcastle United duo remain in jobs - for now

Newcastle United have no immediate plans to announce a new manager - with the club still working through the process of identifying a successor to Steve Bruce.

And the head coach looks set to remain in his post as head coach, but only temporarily.

Bruce is still likely to exit the club before the end of the week, with Graeme Jones tipped to take the side for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur to St James’ Park on Sunday.

Out of work managers such as Frank Lampard and Lucien Favre have been linked with the post, following the £305million takeover by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, Reuben Brothers and PCP Capital Partners was confirmed last week.

Further to that, Lee Charnley is expected to remain on the books in the short-term, with the managing director staying on in a ‘hand over’ period.

He is, however, expected to depart in the medium term.

Bruce met with Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi on Monday, following his return from a three-day mid-international fortnight break.

The PCP Capital Partners directors also met players and football staff yesterday, as they visited the club’s Benton training facilities for the first time since taking over.
