Callum Wilson had some light-hearted fighting talk for Michail Antonio ahead of Newcastle United’s trip to West Ham United on Saturday.

The two strikers host The Footballer’s Football Podcast together on BBC Sounds and, of course, the talking topic on this week’s episode was the two side’s meeting.

Wilson is still sidelined through injury for the Magpies but Antonio is set to feature as he hunts for a return to form.

The Hammers talisman hasn’t scored in the Premier League since New Year’s Day after a prolific start to the campaign.

Wilson opened the podcast with a light-hearted jibe at his countryman’s form.

He said: “You're still not scoring though I see.

“You're letting everyone else do the work for you and you're not contributing.

“What's going on?”

Antonio chuckled as the Newcastle man’s banter and put his lack of goals down to teammate Jarrod Bowen’s fine form.

Bowen has five goals and five assists in his last eight Premier League appearances for West Ham, leading to many saying he deserves an England call up.

Antonio and Wilson mused on the misfortune of Kieran Tripper’s injury and their favourite stadiums ever, before returning to talk about the weekend’s match.

Wilson said that there was little to do to stop Antonio finding the back of the net given his injury, but did have some more mind games to play on the show.

Speaking on his predictions, he said: “I would say a draw to keep things sweet between us but we need the win more than you need the win.

“Your goals regardless, irrelevant.

“You've not scored for the last five weeks, what'll be different in this sixth week.

“I'm joking. I don't want to rev you up and make you play better!

“One thing this week that I can help affect is our personal bet on about who is going to score the most.

“I'm currently out injured but I can tell my centre-backs to kick the hell out of you in the game, put you in the stand, do whatever they need to do to help me win this bet... tell big Dan Burn to give you a kick.”

Chuckling at Wilson’s jokes, Antonio fired some determined words back.

He said: “The drought can end at any stage, and hopefully it's this weekend.

“Our fans are expecting us to get three points and thinking it's an easy three points but in the Premier League there's no easy game, especially your quality of late.”
