Fender comes home to Newcastle next week but is already on the road playing some of the UK's most revered arenas.

On Saturday evening the 'Hypersonic Missiles' singer played Glasgow's OVO Hydro but not everything went to plan.

Halfway through the night, as Fender started playing 'Spit of You', he paused the music to address a fight in the crowd.

Looking at a specific point in the crowd, he stared down at the culprits and asked, "who's fighting?".

He added: "If you're fighting, you're out."

Once resolved, Fender turned and walked back to his band before making a u-turn back to his microphone.

He then rallied: "It's a song about my dad, man.

"I don't want anyone scrapping while I'm singing about my father."

The song Fender was singing, 'Spit of You', tracks growing up in the North East and his relationship with his dad.

Writing on Instagram at the time of release, the singer said: "This is one of my favourite songs on the new record, it’s a song about boys and their dads.

"It’s based around my own relationship with my old man, and how we both struggle as blokes to communicate the way we feel to each other without it becoming a stand off.

"It’s about how the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as I get further in to my twenties I see so much of myself in him, especially when it comes to being stubborn.

"The second half of the song talks about seeing him with my grandma when she passed away, and how I saw him as a son, and how that moment reminded me to make the most of my time with him.

"If anything, it is a declaration of love for him.”

Sam Fender plays at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle on Monday, April 4 and Tuesday, April 5.
