11 best pics of Geordies going wild as NX Newcastle fix World Cup fanzone woes from messy Friday event

Fans were back at NX Newcastle to watch England play on Tuesday evening after Friday night’s shaky first event.

It was a return to form for both Gareth Southgate’s England side and NX Newcastle on Tuesday evening as the Tyneside venue held a fanzone event for the final Three Lions Group Stage match at the Qatar World Cup 2022.

NX Newcastle had also run a viewing party for the meeting with the USA on Friday evening. That event had been hit by technical issues with major sound and screen problems that led to many demanding refunds as they left the newly converted venue frustrated.

On Tuesday night, technical difficulties were fixed as a strong crowd of Geordies celebrated the convincing 3-0 win against Wales. Many sent pints flying, whilst others kept their drinks inside their cups, as some began to dream the dream that the World Cup might just be coming home.

After the match, rising North Shields DJ Schak - known for his street parties after Newcastle United matches at St. James’ Park - took to the decks to keep the party going. North East Brit Pop tribute band The National Anthems had opened the event and Sky Sports News’ Keith Downie, former NUFC defender Steve Howie and Matty Renton of The Magpie Channel were all on hand to give opinions on the football.

NX Newcastle will host another viewing party for England vs Senegal on Sunday - tickets can be purchased here. Anyone waiting for a refund from Friday night’s disrupted fanzone experience should email [email protected].
