For many in Newcastle, Gateshead and across Tyneside, it is the week to be taking down the decorations and facing the tricky task of disposing of Christmas Tree.

No doubt the needles from the tree are already all fallen off, deeply embedded in your lovely sitting room carpet or being dragged around the house by excitable youngsters who are still on holiday.

Most Brits follow the rough guidelines of January 5 and January 6 as the dates to have their festive ornaments down by, in correlation with the Twelfth Night and Epiphany, however, some prefer to get a head start.

NewcastleWorld has scoured the web to help you find local companies and council schemes that are ready and waiting to take your Christmas Tree away this January.

Mike Brannigan, who runs MB Gardening Services North Tyneside, is ready to help you out if you're in that part of the North East. He's running a programme offering to collect and recycle your tree from £6 and can be reached on 07849291874.

Also in North Tyneside is The Real Christmas Tree Company, which runs a service every year. They'll collect and recycle a used tree from £5 and can be contacted on 07510469955.
