Sam Fender shares 4-word reaction to Newcastle United last after emotional Wembley weekend with pals

Sam Fender was one of the 33,000 Newcastle United fans who watched the side suffer a 2-0 defeat in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

The North Shields star is one of the club's most high-profile followers thanks to his frequent acts of support for The Magpies. Fender was seen partying with fans on takeover day in 2021, often adorns his stage with Newcastle United memorabilia and shares snaps of him watching games.

The 'Seventeen Going Under' singer travelled down to London with bandmates to watch the club's first cup final since 1999. On the Saturday evening, Fender shared videos of himself and chums partying alongside Newcastle fans in Trafalgar Square as anticipation for the big game was building.

The star's saxophone player, known as Jonny 'Bluehat’ Davis regularly sports a black-and-white shirt on stage behind Fender and whipped out his instrument at Trafalgar Square to blast a quick rendition of 'Local Hero' to the thousands of fans gathered.

Sadly, it wasn't to be for Fender and Newcastle fans as a clinical Manchester United secured a 2-0 victory thanks to a goal from Casemiro and a Sven Botman own goal.

Nonetheless, Fender was positive in his Instagram story as he caught a video of the waving Wor Flags display in the final minutes of the match as supporters put on a show of pride for Eddie Howe's side.

The singer kept it short and sweet and said: "We've come so far."

Fender will play two sold-out nights at St James' Park this June in what will be a landmark homecoming for the BRIT Award winner.

The shows on June 9 and June 10 will see the 28-year-old play to over 100,000 fans in the biggest headline shows of his career.

The star said: "Ever since I started this band, I always used to joke with the boys that one day we might play St James' Park in Newcastle.

"It's a childhood dream come true, and we're actually gonna play it on the 9th June. This is literally gonna be the biggest show we've ever done - our first stadium show, which is so weird to say! I can't wait, it's gonna be absolutely lush and I hope to see yas all there."
