Alan Shearer has voiced his confidence in Newcastle United against Arsenal this afternoon in a hilarious way.

The Toon legend poked fun at his Match of the Day co-host, and Arsenal supporter, Ian Wright ahead of their teams going head-to-head.

On Twitter, Shearer said: ‘Whatever happens today @IanWright0 don’t get angry ok!!!!! HWTL #NEWARS’ complete with a GIF of the pair hugging and the words ‘I love you.’

It’s evident the former number nine is positive Wright will have something to be angry about.

And it’s not the only jibe Shearer’s made on social media today.

Times sports writer, Henry Winter, took to Twitter on his way to St James’ Park, saying: ‘Straw poll of passing #NUFC fans en route Central station to St James’ Park of their player of the year: Joelinton (lot of love for), Bruno, Trippier, Longstaff, Botman and one fan adamant it has to be Joe Willock. #NEWARS’

To which Shearer hilariously and joyfully quipped: ‘Take in the fresh air Henry,’ complete with a black and white heart.
