One of the things that Newcastle does exceptionally well is desserts.

With dessert restaurants popping up all over the city, we found it only right but to shine a light on Newcastle’s newest addition the dessert scene, Yum Yum.

Yum Yum, which can be found on Cross Street in the city centre, originally opened as a takeaway restaurant only, serving sweet-toothed Newcastle residents with delicious treats that could be delivered right to their door via Uber Eats.

Now, Yum Yum has reopened as a dessert lounge, providing Newcastle with a relaxed space to enjoy their variety of dessert options.

We spoke to Yum Yum owners, who said they wanted to ease into Newcastle before opening up their dine-in restaurant.

The family business which originally set up in Middlesbrough, then expanded their branch to Hartlepool before opening up their third location in Newcastle.

Their Newcastle venue is Yum Yum’s first dine-in restaurant, with a modern and fashionable decor made up of comfortable booth seating and bright neon signs.

Yum Yum told us that they are known for their homemade fresh donuts, but they also serve a wide variety of both unique and traditional dessert dishes such as churros, cookie doughs, cakes, cheesecakes and much more.

Their drink selections are just as delicious, with milkshakes and non-alcoholic cocktails available on the menu alongside regular drinks such as juices and fizzy pop.
