Shunned Tory MP Matt Hancock shared that he was 'buzzing' to see his Newcastle United side qualify for the Champions League this season in a TikTok video.

The politician has developed a penchant for the social media app over the last few years, which has ramped up ever since his controversial appearance on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, which saw him booted from the Conservative party.

Hancock, served as Health Secretary for most of the Covid-19 pandemic but later stepped down from the post for breaking his own social distancing guidelines by having an affair with his Department of Health and Social Care adviser Gina Coladangelo.

The 44-year-old has opened up about his Alan Shearer and Kevin Keegan-inspired love for the Magpies.

After Eddie Howe's side booked their place in the Champions League next season with a 0-0 draw against Leicester City on Monday night, one Newcastle fan asked Hancock for his opinion on the season on TikTok.

Filming a video in front of a St James' Park backdrop, Hancock got up close and personal with the camera to deliver his best punditry opinion.

The TikToker replied: "Still buzzing about the result last night, never been a more exciting nil-nil draw.

"Can't wait to be in the Champions League next year."

When appearing on I'm a Celeb, Hancock opened up about his love for Newcastle United and admitted having a slightly randy feeling towards Magpies legend Kevin Keegan who was his all-time 'celebrity crush'.

Over the years, Hancock has been known to place Newcastle United memorabilia in the backdrop of interviews and was famously involved in the auctioned - or rather, not auctioned - shirt debacle last year.

When speaking to the Northern Echo in 2020, he said: “I’m a Newcastle fan because my uncle Dave is a Geordie and when I was growing up in Chester, he used to take me every Christmas to the Man U/Newcastle game. That was in the era of Kevin Keegan, Alan Shearer, and the heady days when we got almost to the top of the table. It has its ups and downs being a Newcastle fan but it all stems from Uncle Dave.”
